Senior/Digital Analyst, TODAY
As a Digital Analyst within the Digital Growth team, a key area of responsibility will be to use specialist knowledge in the area of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) to improve the search ranking of TODAY’s articles and videos.
You will spearhead efforts to improve the current metatagging process to make TODAY stories, videos and ad hoc projects more visible and discoverable in search engines with a view to growing our audience.
You will also help the newsroom identify key search terms that are trending, suggest more search-friendly headlines or titles and set up and maintain regular reports on the efficacy of long-term SEO efforts.
You will be expected to work in close collaboration with editors and journalists in the newsroom, and contribute to the overall editorial workflow process, including in potentially identifying and developing stories through data analysis. A prerequisite within the digital newsroom is the ability to work well under time pressures, often in a fast-changing breaking news situation.
- At least 3-5 years’ experience handling SEO, preferably in a news environment
- Knowledge of Google Trends and other SEO tools such as Searchmetrics
- Experience dealing with editorial staff in newsrooms and basic understanding of their decision-making processes
